You want some
delicious chocolate and you want it fast. You can always eat a
straight piece of chocolate, but sometimes a chocolate dessert
is more satisfying. When you are looking for a fast and easy
chocolate fix, try one of these great tips, ideas and recipes
and in a few minutes you can be feeding your soul with that
smooth dark chocolate.
Melted chocolate on… everything
If chocolate
is great, melted chocolate is sublime. When chocolate is warm,
it brings out subtleties of the flavor that cannot be
experienced at cooler temperatures. Who among us does not have
memories of chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven.
For a really
fast chocolate fix, break a bar of good quality chocolate into
pieces and put into a microwave-safe bowl or measuring cup (a
small Pyrex bowl is great). Melt the chocolate completely,
stirring periodically until it is smooth. You can dip
strawberries, apple or banana chunks, cubes of pound cake,
brownie chunks, pretzels, or marshmallows into the chocolate for
an impromptu fondue.
Easy chocolate pudding
Nothing is
quite as comforting as the creamy richness of homemade chocolate
pudding. Pudding is actually quite easy to make, and of course
is delicious. Try this pudding recipe for a surefire hit and
only takes about 25 minutes to make.
Ingredients:
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
2 tbsp. cornstarch
2 eggs
1 tbsp. butter
1-1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
2-2/3 cups milk
Directions:
Beat the eggs in a heat-resistant bowl and set
aside.
Combine the sugar, cocoa and cornstarch in a
medium saucepan. Stir the milk into the dry ingredients. Once it
is blended, cook, stirring constantly over medium hear until it
is thick and bubbly. Continue to cook and stir for two more
minutes. Remove from heat.
Gradually stir 1 cup of the hot chocolate mixture
into the eggs. Then, place all of the egg mixture in the
saucepan with the remaining chocolate. Cook until it is nearly
bubbly, without bringing it to a boil. Reduce the heat to very
low and cook and stir for two more minutes. Remove the pan from
heat and stir in the butter and vanilla. Pour the pudding into
individual serving bowls and cool in the refrigerator. If you
want prevent a skim forming on top of the pudding, place a layer
of plastic wrap on top of each pudding.
